Course Objective The aim of the course; mapping of the social life of the Byzantine period in the light of the resources, defining the political and social conditions affect the social life, examining the reflections of these conditions on Byzantine art.
Course Content Political, economic and religious reasons shaping art starting from the Early Christian Period will be discussed.  Styles and themes of Byzantine Art will be evaluated according to its process within the periods.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

2Will be able to discuss on Byzantine cultural context
3Will be able to evaluate relation between portrayals and socio-cultural context.
4Will be able to evaluate the style changes in art and determine their process.
5Will be able to evaluate the political and religious reasons that shaped the Byzantine art.
6Will be able to discuss on the main problems of examining the Byzantine art.
