Course Objective The aim of this lecture is to critically evaluate the basic approaches and theories in state in a comparative manner with a comparative perspective.
Course Content The concept of the state through the state-civil society relations and the emergence of civil society, the ancient Greek theorists of natural law, social contract theorists (Hobbes, Locke), the classical theory of economic policy, Tocqueville, Hegel, Marx, Gramsci, Althusser
