Course Objective Historical foundations of Turkey's diversity at ethnicity and religion; classification of ethnic and religious groups; social roots, language, religion-state,religious sect and political relations; sect and tariqat in Islam, language problems sourced from ethnic diversity; cultural identity discussions; discussing social formation, ethnic and cultural dimension and reflections of problems towards administration will be examined.Discussing the applied policies to regional society based on different ethnic and religious basis or the applied policies effects on regional community.
Course Content Political culture, religion and politics, civil society, the modernization process in Turkey, construction of the new Turkish state and identity, Kemalism, the construction of the citizen.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Define the different meanings of political culture.
2Analyze the relation of culture-structure in Ottoman State.
3Analyze the background of transformation processes that derived from the modernization process in Ottoman and Turkey.
4Evaluate, it can evaluate the impacts of this to recent Turkey, by grasping of on which background the Kemalist modernization process stands.
5Express the relation of cultural structure and codes of mentalities with political structure and transformation.
