COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective Actors in the Ottoman political life, political ideologies, periods, and some thought to the students on the main turning points in the current political and social developments and to gain a perspective on the historical.
Course Content The change of political ideas at the beginning of the Ottoman political and social life during the 19. century and at the beginning of 20 century. Constitutional, political, and administrative system of Ottoman Turks. Political culture, development, electoral systems, the role of political parties, non-governmental organizations of Ottoman Turks. The evolution of the present century with the influences of the Ottoman-Turkish political life. Political history of the Ottoman modernization process, the political considerations (Islamism, nationalism, feminism, liberalism, socialism) political institutions (parliament, elections, military coups), the state-society relations, civil society organizations, from the Empire/State to the Republic, elections.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Defines the actors in the Ottoman political life, political ideologies, the Ottoman Turkish Constitutional, political and administrative system up definitions.
2Explains the constitutional system of the Ottoman Turks in the role of political parties, civil society organizations, and explains the role of public opinion.
3Compares. the evolution from 19th century to the present of the Ottoman-Turkish political life, and the changes.
4Analysis the Ottoman political and social life of the development of political culture and political ideas and analyze change.
5Evaluates the process of modernization of the Ottoman political life, political institutions, political ideas, the state-society relations, civil society organizations, the transition to the Republic from the Empire.
