Course Objective The aim of this course is to make students aware of the basic principles of heredity.
Course Content Inheritance theories before Mendel, introduction to genetics, Mendelian genetics, dihybrid and trihybrid crosses, deviations from Mendelian genetics, mitosis and meiosis, non-mendelian inheritance, genetics questions, population genetics, Hardy Weinberg principle, genetic analysis and mapping in bacteria, sex chromosomes, chromosome mutation, chromosome structure, Major chromosome rearrangement, genetic linkage and mapping in eukaryotes, pedigree analysis, human genetic diseases, interactions between genes, molecular bases of inhabitance, gene expression and gene regulation.
