COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The purpose of this course is to give the students the ability to calculate and analyze the forces occurring in powertrains and giving information about hybrid and electric drive systems.
Course Content The need for powertrain, propulsion systems, mechanical clutches and clutch tests, gear wheels, gear ratios, and the basic equations, transport resistance forces, the drive force levels of mechanical gear boxes and gear selection, mechanical gearbox disassembly, inspection and assembly, shafts, joints , differentials and axles disassembly, inspection and assembly, hydraulic couplings and torque converters, mechanical circuits of planetary gear systems and automatic transmissions, hydraulic circuits and analysis of automatic transmissions, demounting, inspection and installation of automatic gear boxes, automatic gearbox testing, continuous variable transmission (CVT), automatic and manual selectable transmissions.
