COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The primary aim is to introduce students to numerical methods and to teach how to analyze and solve engineering problems using these techniques. Students also learn to make algorithms for solution of engineering problems and to implement them in computer. The course also contributes to analytical methods that are learned in previous semesters
Course Content Introduction to numerical analysis, Matlab operations that are needed in numerical calculations; Source of numerical errors; Roots of equations; Linear and nonlinear algebraic equations; Curve fitting; Regression; Interpolation; Numerical differentiation and integration; Ordinary differential equations.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students learn to solve engineering problems that are complex or cannot be solved by analytical techniques, using simple arithmetic calculations. Students learn to calculate and explain numerical errors and by understanding the source of these errors to minimize them. Students learn to make algorithms to solve engineering problems and to implement them in computer using Matlab software.
2Students learn to solve linear and non-linear system of equations that are encountered in engineering problems using numerical methods. Students learn to obtain a polynomial that characterizes an engineering system using regression and interpolation techniques. Students learn numerical differentiation and integration techniques to solve engineering problems.
3Students learn how to solve ordinary differential equations using numerical methods.
