COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree

Course Objective The main objective of this course is to provide the mechatronics engineering student with the knowledge of basic measurement evaluation techniques and to teach the use of some measurement instruments and devices.
Course Content Basic concepts: Measurement systems, International system of units, Strain Gages: Structure of gages, types of gages, Wheatstone bridge, gage factor, Measurement of pressure: Manometers and vacuum meters, Measurement of temperature: Thermometers, promoters etc., Measurement of viscosity: Newton’s law of viscosity, viscometers, Measurement of force, torque and power: Mechanical and electrical measurement methods of force, torque and power, Measurement of Speed: Tachometers, Dimensional and angular measurement: Calliper gages, micrometers, angle-measuring instruments and dial indicators, Various Gages: Gage blocks (Johansson), plug and snap gages, Measurement of gears: Control of dimensions, Analysis of experimental data: Least squares method, standard deviation and error analysis.
