Course Objective It is known that there is a quite limited study done about the architecture of the city of Denizli. The purpose of this course is primarily about the city, especially in residential areas, to create a serious study of documentation and archives, to create an awareness about the city; the course aims to consolidate students who are studying in Denizli with the city and to strenghten their belongings to Denizli and generate a basis for further studies as well. The social, economical transformation and evolution of the city will be carried out by the theme of ‘housing’.
Course Content This course is about to focus at the historical development of housing in Denizli; the effects of economic and social changes, the earthquakes, on the formation of the the city's housing will be investigated. The transformation of housing architecture will be studied and the environmental and lifetsyle factors effecting to form the housing will be anaylised. During the course, housing heritage and contemporary practice of architecture in the city housing related research, field trips, field studies and presentations will be held.
