Course Objective This course aims at improving students’ ability to listen and comprehend upper-intermediate level academic listening tracks , differentiate stress, intonation and phonetic differences to follow the speaker’s speech about different topics, to understand authentic speech, to develop note-taking skills about the relevant topic and express their points of view in this respect and to make presentations about academic topics , to speak more fluently and to participate in academic discussions about the topic and presentation, to take notes regularly and to use grammar, phonetics and intonation correctly.
Course Content The content of this course includes contemporary, academic, and authentic listening tracks and lectures which improve students’ ability to listen and comprehend upper-intermediate level listening tracks and research topics which necessitate extensive research.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students listen to and understand academic texts at upper-intermediate level by distinguishing differences in emphasis, intonation and voice.
2It allows them to improve their note-taking skills related to an academic subject.
3Our students make a presentation on an academic topic.
4 Our students develops academic speaking skills by participating in academic discussions based on an academic text
5Students writes postcards, invitations, application forms, emails, personal letters and formal letters.
6Our students participate in role-plays in various contexts.
