Course Objective To give an introduction to decision making processes, statistical approach to geological problems.
Course Content Graphical presentation of data: Histograms; Frequency curves; Pie diagrams; Box plotsStatistics: Descriptive methods; Probabilities; Sampling distributions; Testing of hypotheses; Smallsampling theory; Chi-square testsCurve fitting and the method of least squares; Single and Multiple regressions; Correlation theory; Anaysis of variance; Non parametric methods; Mann-Whitney U test; Kruskal-Wallis H test; Spearman's rank correlationIntroduction to geostatistics; variograms; simple Kriging.
