Course Objective Introduce the basics of optical communication systems. Understanding the advantage of optical communication systems compare to electrical systems.
Course Content Introduction to optical communications systems / Principles of light transmission in optical waveguides / Optical fiber types and fundamental characteristics / Principles and characteristics of semiconductor LED and laser sources / Optical sources, receivers and amplifier / Design of optical communication systems / Performance analysis of communication systems (SNR, BER) / OTDM ve WDM multiplexing techniques / Optical interconnect and switching techniques / Introducing the new techniques in optical communication systems.
