COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree

Course Objective The main objective of the course is to provide the mechanical engineering student with a realistic understanding of the machine design process and to develop engineering design synthesis ability.
Course Content Basic knowledge of design, design synthesis, standards, basic forming principles, tolerances, basic principles of designing casting parts, basic principles of designing welded parts, basic principles of designing machined parts, designing the shaft and the housing connection, bearing types, arrangement of bearings, bearing tolerances, selection of bolt types, connection types, easy assembly and disassembly, importance of lightness, light machine elements, importance of sealing in design, dimensioning seals, suitable designs for corrosive environment, suitable designs for lowering production cost, analysing of various machine designs.
