Course Objective Introduce the numerical simulation techniques and methods in mechanical engineering design to students, and to solve various engineering problems, also provide to earn skills and abilities of modeling, application of loads, evaluation of results by using a comprehensive program (ANSYS) written based on finite element method.
Course Content The importance and necessity of the numerical simulation in engineering design, simulation types used in numerical methods, finite element method, using of a finite element program, creation 2D-3D models, creation of finite element networks, material selection, boundary conditions, determination of solutions under applied loads and evaluation them. Modeling and analysis of two and three-dimensional lattice systems, the plane stress and plane strain analysis, time dependant and independent heat conduction analysis, thermal expansion and thermal stress analysis using an advanced finite element program.

1Students will be learned a package program written on finite element method for modeling, analyzing engineering problems, and also evaluating the results.
