Course Objective To give information about: Materials and properties of reinforced concrete; Behaviour ( failure modes ) of rc elements; Design and checks for beam & column sections; Shear and torsion effect and web reinforcement; Examples.
Course Content Materials and properties of reinforced concrete; Behaviour of rc elements, Partial safety factors for loads and materials; Rc column and beam sections Checks for service load conditions; Slenderness effect; Shear and torsion effect and web reinforcement: Punching failure. Design examples.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1...Material properties, (& different failure modes of them).
2...Fundamentals & design principles of rc beams and columns as well as related requirements of Turkish Code of Practices.
3...Essential theoritical and experimental knowledge about structural safety in order to design rc elements and structures properly.
4...Comprehensive (and complex) design examples selected as daily design cases for rc structures – buildings.
