Course Objective To provide theoretical background and application principles for design and analysis of soil and structures which interact with soil.
Course Content Lateral Earth Pressures, Retaining Structures; Reinforced Soils; Sheet Piles, Slope Stability, Soil Investigation; Field Tests, Foundations, Shallow Foundations, Deep Foundations, Soil Improvement, Soil Behaviour under Earthquakes.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Determines lateral soil pressures and design retaining structures accordingly.
2Performs slope stability analysis of soils and design slopes.
3Evaluates the outputs of laboratory and field experiments, use them in design and prepares soil investigation reports.
4Designs shallow and deep foundations.
5Distinguishes the need for soil improvements, analyzes soils under earthquake loading.
6Prepares projects and reports individually and as a group.
