Course Objective To introduce the main criteria on design of urban roads and intersections. To give information about national and international standards. To improve ability for proper design.
Course Content Geometric design criteria for urban roads. Vertical and horizontal curve design, superelevation, project speed ranges. Measure of effectiveness on design of intersections. Single point urban interchange design. Modern roundabouts, signalized roundabouts. Grade separated junction design. Ramp metering, weaving areas and capacity relations. Traffic signs, standards on horizontal and vertical signs. Design of pedestrian areas. Safety and capacity phenomenon.
