COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To introduce conventional and new approaches used in traffic management.
Course Content Historical development of traffic engineering. Traffic stream parameters (volume-speed-density relations). Type and defining the speeds (time mean and space mean speeds). AADT, Project Traffic Volume. Peak Hour Factor. At-gradate, grade separated, unsignalized and signalized intersection design. Traffic signalization. Traffic signal design methods, computer programs about traffic signal design. Signalized intersection design applications.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to measure main parameters of traffic flows in the field.
2Will be able to develop macroscopic traffic flow models.
3Will be able to make a plan for data collection procedures of intersection design.
4Will be able to make calculations for signalized intersections by Webster method.
5Will be able to measure performance of signalized intersections.
