COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The goal of the course is to provide students with the modern monetary theory and tools to lead students to analyze: the effects of monetary and fiscal policy on banking, financial and capital markets; monetary policy goals, strategy, and tactics; the international financial system and exchange rate markets; the tradeoffs of policy options and their implications under different circumstances.
Course Content The course includes the topics of understating interest rate, portfolio choice, the theory of asset demand, the behavior of interest rate, the relationship between monetary policy and economic activities, the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal polices in IS-LM framework, aggregate demand and money monetary policy , central banks and alternative monetary policies, inflation targeting, and stabilization programmes.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Analyze and describe the effects of monetary policy on banking and financial markets.
2Use monetary theory to explain how national and international banking and financial markets work
3Investigate the reason and consequences of a change in the exchange rates.
4Apply quantitative researches in banking and financial markets.
5Identify the sources of crisis and discuss possible financial regulations to get the economy out of the crisis.
