COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The Primary objective of this course is to provide the students knowledge about the duties, the working structures and the ways to implement the projects of the organizations that operate in International Trade and Finance fields, and also gives the opportunity to them to learn and discuss current issues in these fields.
Course Content Topics covered in this course are the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime and the General agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the origins and basic rules of GATT/WTO including Most Favored Nation, National Treatment, Technical Barriers, and provisions on quantitative restrictions, escape clauses, the WTO agreements such as the Agreement on Traderelated aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS), the history, purpose, structure and functions of IMF.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To give information about the World Trade Organization (WTO) regime and the General agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in the framework of International Trade
2To analyze the origins and basic rules of GATT/WTO including Most Favored Nation, National Treatment, Technical barriers, and provisions on quantitative restrictions, escape clauses.
3To explain the WTO agreements such as the Agreement on Traderelated aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) and General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS).
4To give information about IMF and its history, purpose, structure and functions.
5To discuss the current issues related with the Turkey IMF relations.
6To explain the duties and nature of the organizations in International Trade and Finance.
