Course Objective The students of this course are introduced to movie analysis and they have an opportunity to study different approaches to use in movie analysis. "Auteur" centered, formational, realistic, cultural, psychoanalytic and ideological criticisms are among these approaches. The aim of the course is to address topics such as movie and literature relation, translation and adaptation issues, how close the movie is to the actual novel, originality. Students will have the opportunity to think about the similarities and differences between verbal, symbolic, literary and cinematic expression.
Course Content The comparison and contrast of siginificant British and American novels to their movie adaptations.
