Course Objective This course aims to compare and contrast different approaches to vocabulary teaching and learning. Students are expected to recognize and identify different types of words in English and different meanings of words in context. At the end of the course, students will also be equipped with the supporting learning/teaching techniques and strategies related to vocabulary teaching.
Course Content This course focuses on the relationship between English word knowledge, semantics and discourse. Students learn how to teach English vocabulary with the holistic approach of language skills. Students are provided with the opportunity to recognize and identify different types of words in English and different meanings of words in context. Different types of texts, genres and corpora are used within the scope of this course. Students are also provided with the supporting learning/teaching techniques and strategies related to vocabulary teaching.

1At the end of this course, students will be able to compare and contrast different approaches to vocabulary teaching and learning.
