Course Objective To make teacher candidates have knowledge about the historical development of mathematics and the importance of mathematics history in mathematics education, have an idea about mathematics in different cultures and regions, and be aware of how mathematical concepts are constructed in the historical process
Course Content The importance of mathematics history in mathematics education; Ancient Egyptian mathematics; Ancient Greek mathematics; Far East mathematics; Islamic world mathematicians; The birth of contemporary mathematics; Historical development of mathematical concepts.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students should know the historical development process of numbers and arithmetic
2Students should know the historical development process of the concept from geometry and algebra
3Students should know the important profiles from the life of mathematician who contributed to mathematics from ancient times to today.
4Students should know the development of mathematics in different culture and regions.
5Students should appreciate the close relationship between mathematical development and technological development.
6Students should recognize the relationship between historical development process of mathematical concepts and mathematics education.
