Course Objective Obtaining that students are aware of the importance of out-of-school learning environments in science education and instruction, and gain experience through sample applications in this settings. While increasing students’ knowledge and skills about facilities of out of school environments,
Course Content Content of out-of-school learning, science instruction in out-of-school environments; instructional methods and techniques and materials for out of school learning environments; learning environments such as museums, science centres, zoos, botanical gardens, planetariums, industrial organisations, national parks, science festivals and fairs, science camps, natural settings, etc.); planning applying and evaluating of out-of-school learning activities.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Understands the concepts of formal, non-formal and informal learning and discuss the content of this concepts.
2Understands the aim and philosophy of out of school environments.
3Explains the relationship between out of school learning environment and science curriculum.
4Understands and explains the content and types of field trips.
5Designs a field trip sample and plans its organisation.
6Understands the importance of instructional use of botanical gardens and zoos.
7Gives examples for out of school learning environments.
8Discuss the applications of teacher- and student-centred instructional strategies for out of school learning environments.
