COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective Turkish Independence War, the revolutions of Atatürk and the Kemalist Thought System with the history of the Republic of Turkey to transfer to a new generation of national and universal values. To comprehend the importance of the Turkish modernization adventure in the context of the relationship between national achievements and common civil values of humanity. To develop a scientific perspective in the face of threats against Atatürk's principles and revolutions with Kemalist thought. To unite the Turkish nation with national consciousness around national goals in line with Atatürk's thought.
Course Content Political reforms (removal of the Sultanate, declaration of the Republic, removal of the Halifax, etc.); revolutions; revolutions made in the social field (hat reform, closure of tekkes and zawas, Calendar, Time and Surname Law); revolutions in the field of education and culture (Tevhid-i Tedrisat Kanunu, Alphabet Revolution, Turkish History and Language Revolution); revolutions in the field of law; Atatürk's multi-party transitional experiences and reactions (the establishment and closure of the Terakkiperver Cumhuriyet Firk, the Sheikh Said rebellion and the assassination attempt on Atatürk); Atatürk's period, multi-party political life transitions (establishment of Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırka, its closure and Menemen Event); Turkey's economic resources and policy in Republican period, (İzmir Economic Congress); Turkish foreign policy in Atatürk Period (Population exchange, membership to the United Nations, Balkan Antantı and Sadabat Paktı); Turkish foreign policy in Atatürk Era of (Montreux Straits Regime, to join the motherland of Hatay, Turkey's bilateral relations with other countries); Definition, content and principles of Atatürk's thought system; Turkey after Ataturk: The ruling Democratic Party in the 1960s and 1970s; Turkey's foreign policy after 1960.

10To be able to comprehend the meaning and value of the principles of Laicism, Statism, Populism, Revolutionism which are the the basic principles of Turkish Revolution
