Course Objective The aim of this course is to enable pre-service teachers to have basic knowledge about the relationship between basic language skills and the nature of listening/watching skills and the acquisition process of this skill; acquire information about different dimensions of listening/watching skill training; to gain awareness of listening/watching defects; to have knowledge about listening styles and types and how to use listening types; comprehend the place and importance of listening/watching skills in Turkish Language Curriculum; designing applications for the training of listening/watching skills; To ensure that they have basic knowledge and skills about measuring and evaluating listening/watching skills.
Course Content Basic information about listening instruction (basic concepts, historical process, etc.); physical and mental elements of listening; memory and its properties (short-term memory, long-term memory, recollection, semantic memory and procedural memory); relationship between listening vocabulary and vocabulary; attention; listening defects; listening processes; developing listening skills, recognizing prosodic features (emphasis, tone, melody, etc.) in speech; listening and viewing, making sense of body language features; educational environments for listening skills; listening methods and techniques; measuring and evaluating listening skill; designing listening activities.
