Course Objective
The aim of this course is to make a definitional distinction between the concepts of gender and sex, and to raise awareness about how gender develops and is maintained. Recognizing how men and women are affected by gender inequality.
Course Content
Sex, gender, gender identity, basic concepts and definitions of gender equality, gender roles, stereotypes, gender discrimination, theories about gender, feminism, feminist thinkers and feminist theories, queer theory, Development of gender in the world and in Turkey, gender roles and representations of men and women in mass communication, gender in education, gender in social studies curriculum and textbooks.
