Course Objective The aim of this course is to enable students to have knowledge of the basic concepts, theories and historical developments of human rights and democracy, and to analyze the current debates in light of this information. In addition, this course aims teacher candidates to analyze the relationship between human rights and democracy in education and to develop a vision for human rights and democracy education.
Course Content Concept of human rights and historical development of it; types of human rights; democracy perceptions, principles, approaches and human rights; democracy education and democratic education; family and democracy education; education as a human right; pre-school education and democracy education; primary school education program and democracy education; democracy education in secondary education; higher education and democracy education; democratic school and classroom environment.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
