Course Objective To support the professional development of teacher candidates for planning and implementing STEM+A education in early childhood. In this course, pre-service teachers' planning and implementation self-efficacy, awareness, attitudes, and instructional beliefs towards STEM+A education are positively supported. In this course, teacher candidates have the opportunity to practice STEM+A education with children.
Course Content The course's teaching process includes an introduction, presentation, activities, discussion, action planning, and evaluation. Each week focuses on a different dimension of early STEM+A education. These dimensions include the conceptual theoretical foundations of STEM+A education, the content of STEM+A disciplines (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and art), children's illustrated books and STEM+A, STEM+A outside the classroom, coding and robotics with STEAM+A, design and engineering practices with children, organizing STEM+A learning centers, family involvement in the STEM+A education process, inclusive STEM+A (STEM+A for disadvantaged groups such as girls and low socioeconomic children, STEM+A for individuals with special needs) and STEM +A education includes measurement and evaluation. Finally, pre-service teachers will plan and implement activities suitable for STEM+A education.
