Course Objective This course aims to develop pre-service teachers' in-depth understanding of learning approaches in early childhood, as well as basic skills. In this context, prospective teachers will examine various theoretical and practical approaches to understand children's learning styles, needs, and developmental characteristics. Additionally, prospective teachers will learn to effectively use different methods, strategies, and materials to support learning. This course also aims to enable prospective teachers to gain confidence and mastery in learning-teaching processes by enabling them to develop their ability to apply and evaluate learning approaches in various contexts. This way, teacher candidates will become more ready and competent in creating an effective and inclusive learning environment in early childhood education.
Course Content Basic principles and concepts related to learning; Factors affecting learning in early childhood (feedback, motivation, reinforcements); learning theories and approaches (Behavioral learning theories, Cognitive Theories, social learning theories and brain-based learning theories); early childhood for the effective learning during the period, the teacher can make arrangements for the environment and training content. This course provides a practical framework for understanding the learning process in early childhood and developing effective teaching strategies. We start by defining the concept and process of learning, emphasizing that it's an active process influenced by various factors. We delve into basic principles and concepts such as context, motivation, and feedback, equipping you with the tools to navigate the learning journey. Next, we examine the factors that influence learning in early childhood. We investigate how feedback, motivation, and reinforcement affect children's performance and attitudes in the learning process and how teachers can effectively manage these factors. Next, we delve into the fascinating world of learning theories and approaches. We explore a variety of theories, including behavioral learning theories, cognitive theories, social learning theory, and brain-based learning theories. Each approach offers unique insights into the learning process and its application to teaching practice, keeping you engaged and interested in diverse perspectives. Finally, we examine the environment and educational content adjustments teachers can make for effective learning in early childhood. In this context, we focus on how teachers can make the learning environment supportive, how motivation-enhancing strategies can be applied, and how differentiation techniques can be used. This course aims to prepare prospective teachers to be successful in their future teaching careers by ensuring they understand the learning process in early childhood and acquire the skills required for effective teaching practice.
