COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To teach verse and prose types of Turkish folk literature; To have knowledge about the tradition of minstrel literature and traditional Turkish theater. To be able to make traditional worldview-oriented analysis over texts belonging to these genres.
Course Content Folk theater (Karagöz, Meddahlık, Ortaoyunu) is introduced in terms of structure and content. The distinctive elements of the word groups that make up the folk language are explained with examples. Some aspects of Turkish folk culture that are reflected in the language are shown with examples from proverbs, idioms and formulaic words. Basic information about the basic types of Turkish folk literature based on verse, research and analysis methods is taught. Starting from the basic features of the art of poetry, the types of anonymous folk poetry are explained with examples, both the tradition and the representatives of the minstrel literature are introduced with texts. Within the framework of the given foundation, it is aimed to develop the ability to explain the texts in the student.
