Course Objective The aims of the course are to understand, describe and study features and phases of Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Rome Periods sculpture. The objectives of the course are to understand the importance of sculpture for archaeology and features of sculptors and sculptures.
Course Content In this lesson sculpture art will be summarized from Paleolithic up to Late Antique Period and also general sculpture chronology to be perceived by students. It will be told about starting from first idol and figurines, why the people want to make these objects. Development of sculpture art in Paleolithic, Neolithic, Chalcolithic, Bronze and Iron Age, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and until beginning of Roman Imperial Period, general characteristics will be given by samples.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to understand the importance of sculpture for archaeology.
2To express the main characteristics of pre-archaic and archaic period sculpture art.
3To be able to recognize the themes and characteristics of early, mature and late archaic periods.
4To be able to understand the phases of the classical period
5To be able to recognize the main characteristics of Severe Style, High Phase and Rich Phase.
6To be able to examine the themes of Severe Style, High Phase and Rich Phase.
7To be able to recognize principle sculptors of Severe Style, High Phase and Rich Phase.
8To be able to understand the phases of the Hellenistic period and their meaning.
9To be able to understand early, baroque and late Hellenistic periods and their meanings.
10To be able to recognize the main characteristics of the Roman Empire sculpture.
