KVK 418 AIR CONDITIONING AND HUMIDITY CONTROL IN HISTORICAL BUILDINGS AND MUSEUMS2 + 08th Semester3,5

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The geographical location and physical properties of the places where the artifacts are exhibited and determination of important parameters affecting artifacts.
Course Content In the last 20 years, many studies around the world have clearly demonstrated that air pollution harms cultural and historical structures and materials. Museums, galleries, libraries and archives are at significant risk when considering the air quality factor. In our country, it is now a necessity to include the practices to be done in order to eliminate the effects of the air quality and the damage caused by the air quality on the works and applications made to protect the historical and cultural structure in our country. The study and research studies on the extent to which the historical and cultural heritage stored in museums and historical buildings are affected by the indoor air quality parameters is a subject that has not yet started to be studied and implemented in our country. In this course, the important part of our historical and cultural heritage that is preserved, stored or exhibited in closed spaces (indoor environments) is examined by examining how the works are affected by air pollutants, the evaluation of risk assessment and control methods, and the studies and practices conducted in international and national scale and compiled in our country. The application difficulties will be discussed and solutions will be developed.
