Course Objective
Making wall and floor mosaics in New opus tesselatum and opus sectile techniques for educational purposes using traditional techniques and materials.
Course Content
Restoration of the architectural structure decoration learned in the lessons with experimental archaeological practices in conservation. Within the scope of the course, mosaics and other pavements will be re-constructed using the appropriate materials and adhering to the original construction techniques. Preparation of materials to be used (small hand tools), construction material supply, mortar construction, analysis, binding mortar and other materials used in Mosaic mortar will be seen on site. Mosaic construction will be conducted experimentally. Thus, active conservation and restoration applications can be done correctly.
