Course Objective
Gaining the quality of the process and factors affecting the deterioration of the materials recovered from the archaeological area.
Course Content
Visual and structural identification of the organic and inorganic materials recovered in the archaeological area as well as the problems with the help of advanced instrumental analysis techniques. Introduction to analytical methods. Classification, spectroscopy definitions, light - matter interaction and spectral methods. Atomic spectroscopy methods, atomicabsorption (AAS) and atomic emission (AES) spectroscopy. Molecular spectroscopy. Ultraviolet - visible field spectroscopy, fundamentals and applications; luminescence event and molecular fluorescence spectroscopy; Infrared spectroscopy and its benefits. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR); X-ray based spectroscopic methods, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF); introduction to chromatographic methods, classification; High-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), gas chromatography (GC) and benefits provided in detail
