Course Objective To be able to evaluate the historical and cultural characteristics of the settlements with a geographical point of view.
Course Content Definition of settlement, classification of settlements, basic concepts; History of settlement, factors that prepared the emergence of first settlements; Factors affecting the distribution and distribution of settlements on the earth; The definition of residential, shapes, plans and factors that impact on functions, examples from the world and Turkey; Investigation of small settlement patterns in villages and villages, interactions with environment, similarities and differences, plans, physical and cultural factors on rural settlements.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To learn how rural and urban settlements emerge and why they have changed over time
2Analyzes the relation between dispersed and clustered settlements to topography and water resources,
3Can relate residential types to economic activities in rural and urban settlements.
4To ability relate the building material of rural and urban settlements with local climate conditions.
5Classify rural settlements according to their functions.
