Course Objective In general, the main objective is, understanding the behavior of enzymes in vivo and in vitro. This course aims to restore the balance to some extent by discussing the properties of enzymes in systems of increasing complexity from isolated enzymes to enzymes in the cell. It should be of value to undergraduate students of biochemistry and related biological sciences.
Course Content Overview of enzymology, basic principles of enzymology, structures and properties of enzymes, enzyme classification, the mechanism of enzyme action, coenzymes, enzyme activity, methods for activity detection and quality determination, factors influencing enzyme activity, introduction to enzyme kinetics, the control of enzyme activity, immobilized enzymes, enzyme immobilization methods.
