COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective This course is designed for the needs of undergraduate students in life sciences and serves as a primer in drug metabolism. The term “drug metabolism” in its broadest sense may be considered as the absorption, distribution and excretion of drugs. One of the goals in this course is aimed at undergraduates who have a basic grounding in biochemistry and who are interested in learning about the molecular mechanisms by which the drugs act in the body.
Course Content General information about drugs and their forms, the four processes of drug therapy, pathways of drug metabolism, enzymology and molecular mechanisms of drug metabolism, induction and inhibition of drug metabolism, factors effecting drug metabolism, pharmacological aspects of drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics of drug metabolism.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.
Mode of Delivery Face to Face

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to learn pathways of drug metabolism.
2Will be able to learn induction and inhibition of drug metabolism.
3Will be able to know factors effecting drug metabolism.
