Course Objective The aim of this course is to introduce the student to the philosophical system of Kant.
Course Content Analysis of the Critique of Pure Reason, with some attention to other aspects of Kant's philosophy, such as his views on ethics and aesthetics. A detailed study of the metaphysical and epistemological doctrines in Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason. This work is one of the most important books in modern philosophy, and we will try to understand why. Topics may include the limits of human knowledge, the role of the mind in the production of experience, the reality of space and time, reason and its ability to critique itself, freedom of the will, the existence of God, and the status of metaphysics.
