COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of course is defineing the art products are processed in the countries that have embraced Islam. Aims to explain the architectural samples and their decorations such as mosques, madrasas, khans, palace and fortress etc. built in Karakhanids and Ghaznavids period with their planning features and decorations in detail. will focus on the historical works of Turkish states prevailing the Middle Ages, the Mamluk, Ilkhanid, Safavid, Timurid and Turks, who founded the government in India. Will be given information about the impact of these architectural samples and decorations on the works in Anatolia. Later, to do a general assessment of art in a long process, from the emergence of Islam until the end of the Middle Ages, and will focus on its place in the World History of Art.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to have information about the cultural features and history of Karakhanid period.
2Will be able to define the plans and ornamentation programs in the mosques of Çilburç and Dehistan. Will be able to explain the features in the mosques of Bashane and Nisa and the Namazgah of Bukhara. Will be able to describe the features in the mosques of Digaron and Mugaki Atari at Khazara.Will be able to explain the importance of Kharahanid mosques in Turkish Architecture with the examples.
3Will be able to compare the minarets of Burana, Ozkent and Kalan Minaret at Bukhara. Will be able to compare the minarets of Can Kurgan and Vabkent with other Kharahanid examples.Will be able to make a general overview of Kharahanid minarets.
4Will be able to have detailed information about the tombs of Arap Ata, Balaci Hatun and Sultan Saadet. Will be able to describe the turbahs of Ozkent and Sheikh Fadhil and Kharahanid Madrasa of Samarkand.
5Will be able to define the caravanserai of Dehistan and Ribat-ı Melik. Will be able to describe the caravanserais of Al-Asker, Akchakale and Daye Hatun.
6Will be able to summarize Ghaznawid History. Will be able to define the minarets of Mesud III and Bahramshah.
7Will be able to examine in detail the plan and ornamentation programs of the Great Mosque and the Palace of Lashkhar-i Baazar. Will be able to describe the Palace of Mesud III and Ribat-ı Mahi. Will be able to explain the features in the tomb of Sultan Mahmoud.
8Will be able to evaluate the art and architecture of the Ghaznawids.
9Will be able to have information abaut the architectural works of Medieval Turkish States such as the Mamluqs, Ilkhanids, Safawids, Timurids and the Mughal Dynasty at Indıa and define their ornamentation programs and their influences on the archihectural works at Anatolia.
10Will be able to make evaluation on the art from the Emergence of Islam to the end of the Medieval Age and its place in the World Art History.
