COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree

Course Objective The aim of course is examining and evaluating the examples of Early Byzantine Art within the framework of the contemporary political, social and economic conditions.
Course Content With the spread of Christianity in Late Antiquity and the emergence of new venues for religious worship, which is necessary for the receipt of their form explaining in detail the regions which are effective, the new capital, Istanbul's historical, physical and geopolitical location, and comprehend the importance of the arts in this period laid down in the other architectural aimed to introduce structures.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to know the sources and main character of art and architecture in Late Antiquity with the examples.
2Will be able to describe the ecclesiastical structures from the early centuries of Christianity.
3Will be able to explore the basilical complexes of Roman Imperial Period and understand the use of “basilical type” of planning in Christian architecture.
4Will be able to define the general features of Early Christian churches in Italy, Israel and Anatolia.
5Will be able to know and compare the examples of Hellenistic basilical complexes in and out of Anatolia.
6Will be able to define the history, topography and monuments of Constantinople.
7Will be able to know and compare the examples of vaulted basilical structures in and out of Anatolia
8Will be able to know and compare the examples of the churches in cross plan, in and out of Anatolia.
