COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of course is examinig Ottoman architectural monuments and other works of art from beggining of unproductive period until the age of Mahmut I (1754).
Course Content Ottoman architectural monuments and other works of art will be explained from beggining of unproductive period until the age of Mahmut I (1754). Will focus on the changes in the plan facilities of mosque, madrasa, khan, defensive structures, palaces, mansions, houses used in everyday life etc.; western influences, cultural-artistic environment and arcitects of this period.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to have information about the time of Sultan Mehmed III.
2Will be able to know and define the Ottoman Royal tombs in the garden of Hagia Sophia, Melek Ahmed Pasha Mosque at Diyarbakir and Kadife Han at Damascus. Will be able to describe the civil architectural examples such as the Kiosks of Incili and Sepetciler and the complex of Gazanfer Aga.
3Will be able to have information about the the time of Sultan Ahmed I. Will be able to examine and evaluate the complexes of Kuyucu Murad Pasha and Ekmekcioglu Ahmed Pasha.
4Will be able to present the caravanserai of Ayshe Kadin at Edirne, the mosques of Melike Safiye at Cairo and Omar Pasha at Elmali-Antalya. Will be able to have detailed information about the caravanserai of Okuz Mehmed Pasha at Ulukışla.
5Will be able to describe the complex of Sultan Ahmed at İstanbul.
6Will be able to make general evaluation about the buildings from the time of Sultan Ahmed I.
7Will be able to have information about the time of Sultan Murad IV and examine the architectural examples such as The Complex of Bayram Pasha at Haseki, the bedesten at Nigde, and the Kiosks of Baghdat and Revan in Topkapi Palace.
8Will be able to present the Tiled Complex at Uskudar and the Sunnet Odasi, from the time of Sultan Ibrahim I, in Topkapı Palace.
9Will be able to have information about the time of Sultan Mehmed IV. Will be able to explain the complex of Yeni Camii and Yeni Valide Han. Will be able to synthesize the complexes of Koprulu at Divanyolu-Istanbul and Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha, the Vezir Han at Bilecik and the Madrasa of Fazil Ahmed Pasha at Vezirköprü-Samsun.
10Will be able to know the complex of Kara Mustafa Pasha at Incesu and the Mosque of Kara Mustafa Pasha at Merzifon and compare them with the contempoarary building at Anatolia.Will be able to have information about the complexes of Amcazade and Corlulu Ali Pasha and the complexes of Damat Ibrahim Pasha at İstanbul and Nevshehir.
11Will be able to make general evaluation about the Ottoman buildings from the foundation to the first quarter of the 18th century in the aspects of plan types, material and ornamentation programs.

1 After short information about the period of Mehmed III, mausoleums in the garden of hagia sophia church, Diyarbakir – the Mosque of Melek Ahmed Pasha and Sam – Kadife Inn will be explained.
2 Civilian structures like İncili Mansion, Sepetçiler Mansion and Gazanfer Ağa Complex will be explained.
3 After a short information about the period of Ahmed I, the focus will be on Kuyumcu Murad Pasha and Kuyucu Ekmekçioğlu Ahmed Pasha Complexes built in this period.
4 Ayşe Kadın Caravanserai in Edirne, Kahire-Melike Safiye, Elmalı-Ömer Pasha Mosques will be explained.
5 Ulukışla Öküz Mehmed Pasha Caravanserai known as an important barrack – caravanserai in Central Anatolian will be presented.
6 Sultan Ahmed Complex in İstanbul which is one of the most extensive building activities of XVII. Century in Ottoman architecture.
7 After an evaluation of general structures of the period of Ahmed I, a general historical information about the period of Murad IV will be given and Bayram Pasha Complex in Haseki will be presented.
8 Focusing on Niğde-Bedesteni (covered bazaar) and Bağdat and Revan Mansions in Topkapı Palace, a comparision between its quasies will be made.
9 After Çinili Complex in Üsküdar is told, circumcise room built in Topkapı Palace in the period of Ibrahim I will be presented.

11 After short historical information about the period of Mehmed IV, Yeni Valide Inn and Yeni Camii Complex in Eminönü will be presented.
12 Besides Ottoman complexes, madrasah based like Divanyolu-Köprülü Complex and Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Paşa Complex, Bilecik Vezir Han and Vezirköprü-Fazıl Ahmed Pasha Madrasah will be presented.
13 By explaining Kara Mustafa Pasha Complex in İncesu and the Mosque of Kara Mustafa Pasha in Merzifon built in the second half of XVII. Century, the focus will be on the products built in Anatolia in this period.
14 Amcazade, Çorlulu Ali Pasha Complex built after II. Vienna defeat and kulliyes built in İstanbul and Nevşehir by Damat İbrahim Pasha will be explained.
