Course Objective In the scope of the course, after the Period of Alexander the Great art view was changed and new art centers like Pergamon, Tralleis, Rhodes, Alexandria and Hellas appeared. Develop mentand their mutual interactions will be examined.
Course Content Changes of society, politics, and world view with the Alexander the Great and their reflections to art will be explained.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1To be able to examine the main characteristics and principal works of 4th century BC.
2To be able to understand political and historical events of Hellenistic Period.
3To examine the conquest and politics of king of Macedonia; Philip II and Alexander the Great.
4To be able to recognize the portraits and features of Alexander the Great.
5To be able to understand the main characteristics and the main phases of Hellenistic sculpture.
6To be able to recognize work and sculptors of Early Hellenistic Period.
7To be able to make comments about the characteristics and sculpture of High Hellenistic (Baroque Style).

1 Information about sculptor Lysippos, who is an important artist of 4th c. B.C. and preparer of Hellenistic period, and his works will be given. Besides, the “Sarcophagus of Crying Women” which is exhibiting in the İstanbul Archaeological Museum will be described.
2 Methods of lecture and bibliography will be explained. The history of Hellenistic Period including general political history of Hellenistic Period, Macedonian king Philip II and his son Alexander the Great, his politics, his conquests, his death and sharing his kingdom will be explained.
3 Portraits of Alexander the Great and specifications of them will be described.
4 General features of the sculpture of Hellenistic Period and its phases, newly revealed trends and features of phases will be given.
5 Features of Early Hellenistic Period and the Demosthenes statue of sculptor Polykleitos will be described.
6 The Antiocheian Tyche which belongs to Early Hellenistic Period and have Seleukos I Nicator made sculptor Eutykhides who is student of Lysippos will be described.
7 The Nemesis Statue from Rhamnous, Priestess Nikeso, Dancing Girl from Budapest and Sitting Girl from Rome-Conservatori which are belongs to Early Hellenistic Period will be described.
8 The Aphrodite by Doidalses, which belongs to Early Hellenistic Period and sculptor Doidalses made for the city of Nicomedia and its replicas will be described.
9 The Girl of Anzio statue that belongs to Early Hellenistic Period from Rome-Therme Museum will be described
10 The Caryatid of Tralleis and Epheb from İstanbul Archaeological Museum and their replicas will be described.
11 General features of Hellenistic Baroque, general information about Great Galatian Statue Groups and its propagandistic features will be given.
12 Little Galatian Statue Groups which is another important statue group of Hellenistic Baroque and its propagandistic features will be given.
13 Information about Sleeping Satyr and Scythian Marsyas from Munich-Glyptotek, which are other important artifacts of Hellenistic Baroque Style, their replicas will be given.
14 Information about reliefs of Tragodia Pergamon and Altar of Magnesia Artemis Temple which are important artifacts of Hellenistic Baroque Style will be given.
