Course Objective The aim of the course is defined that the general characteristics ceramic of Archaic period and analyzed that the forms of vases and techniques of painting. The objectives of the course are analyzed that frame of the social and political of archaic age and examined that the production center of ceramic workshops and commercial relations.
Course Content The black figure technique started to be produced at the end of the 7th century B.C. and the progress of style in red figure technique which occurs later, production centers will be told by giving examples from vase painters.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Describe the pottery of archaic period in a general context.
2Examine social and political structure of archaic period.
3Examine important pottery production sites and their trade relations during the archaic period.
4Examine the impacts of geometric pottery characteristics on orientalizing pottery by making analogies.
5Compare the artifacts manufactured on important pottery production centers (Athens, Corinth, Crete, Rhodes, Melos, Naucratis, Miletos ve Clazomenae) in archaic period
6Examine pottery shapes and painting techniques in archaic pottery.

1 Corinth Workshop will be examined generally in Corinth Pottery Art. Chronology of Corinth Pottery Art will be given.
2 Information will be given about Early Protocorinth Period and sample of vases will be analyzed.
3 General information will be given about Middle Protocorinth Period and sample of vases will be analyzed.
4 Information will be given about Late protocorinth Period and sample of vases will be examined.
5 Information will be given about Early Corinthian Period and sample of vases will be examined.
6 Information will be given about Middle Corinthian Period and sample of vases will be examined.
7 Information will be given about Late Corinthian Period and sample of vases will be examined.
8 General information will be given about Orientalizan Pottery Art, and East Hellenic Pottery Workshops, and the relations between East and West Workshops will be examined.
9 Rhodos Workshops, Wild Goat Style, and its samples will be examined.
10 Naucratis, Cyclad, Melos Workshops and their vase samples will be analyzed.
11 Cretan Workshops will be examined with vase samples.
12 Information will be given about vase samples which are seen at west Anatolia, and also the information concerning Ficellura Style Vases and its examples will be given.
13 Information will be given about Clazomenai Workshop, and its vase samples will be examined.
14 Clazomenai Workshop Kanonik and Monastrakia Type Painted Sarcophagus will be examined.
