Course Objective Recognition of ancient structures in order to follow the ancient architecture. To reveal the chronological development of these structures. To understand the urban planning of the ancient cities, to focus on the major architects and to address all the elements of a city is one of the objectives. To show how classical architecture transformed in the ancient times. Byzantine architecture and architectural developments that take place in cities together with the new period. The aim of this course is to emphasize the effect of ancient architecture on modern architecture.
Course Content Especially, during the Roman and Byzantine periods, all the architectural stages of the formation of an ancient city constitute the content of the course. Ancient sources and architects who talk about these stages will be evaluated within the scope of the course. The sections of religious and public structures, their usage patterns and periodic distinctions will be mentioned. The effects of ancient architecture on medieval Europe and modern architecture.
