Course Objective This course aims at introducing Oghuzs who were the ancestors of Seljukids, Ottomans and also of the peoples of the Republic of Turkey.
Course Content The root of the name Oghuz, Oghuzs near Barlık River, around Tula, First Gokturk State and Oghuzs, Second Gokturk State and Oghuzs, Oghuzs under Uighurs, General Remarks on Syrdarya Oghuzs, the land of Syrdarya Oghuzs, their lifestyles, economic life, religious beliefs, customs, Oghuzs’ conversion to Islam and Oghuz-Yabgu state, The Uzs, The Emergence of Seljukid State and Oghuzs, Oghuzs in the time of Seljuks, Transoxiana, Mangislak, Balhan, Oghuzs in Horasan, Kirman, Persia and Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Azerbaijan, Erran, Iraq and Al Jazeera, Syria, Oghuzs in Anatolia, Turcomans after Mongol invasion, Oghuzs beyond Caspian Sea and Iran, Anatolia in the Mongol period and after, Turcomans of Aleppo, Çukurova, At-Cekenler and Neigborhood Tribes, Tribal State of Turkey in and after 15th century, Ottoman Geography and Oghuzs after 16th century, Oghuz Tribal Organization and Tribes, Oguzs Epics.
