Course Objective The aim of this course is to equip the student with the necessary equipment to carry out academic studies on subjects such as manipulative communication types, communication techniques used in this context, and communication efforts other than rational persuasion.
Course Content It is known that with the spread of new media tools, content production within the scope of manipulative communication has increased rapidly. Disinformation, misinformation, infodemic, fake news and the concept of post-truth, which are the subject of communication research, are examined in this context. At this point in the process of digitalization of communication, it is observed that the manipulative communication style has a negative impact in many areas, especially political, economic and social. At this point, it is predicted that manipulative communication will be an important part of media and communication studies in the future. From this point of view, the aim of this course is to equip the student with the necessary equipment to carry out academic studies on subjects such as manipulative communication types, communication techniques used in this context, and communication efforts other than rational persuasion. In addition, it is aimed to emphasize the knowledge produced in the academic field and ethical standards as a requirement of the profession, and to provide an insight into the political, social and economic reflections of irrational persuasion efforts, especially in communication professions, and an ability to analyze this.
