COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To learn about the origin, morphology, botany, physiology, cultivation, seed production, breeding, biotechnology and marketing, and storage of sugar beet, sugar cane, and potato. It aims to teach students the important developments in sugar beet, sugar cane, and potato breeding, and biotechnology and their economic importance for the World and Turkey.
Course Content Explaining the climate and soil requirements of important species of potato, sweet potato, yam, cassava, colalas (Cypriot potato), sugar beet, sugarcane, and sweet herb (stevia) and their cultivation in field and laboratory conditions.
