COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To teach basic knowledge and functions on heredity in plants, and Genetic structures of organisms, mechanisms of heredity and plant breeding methods used in the transfer of basic information on the genetic and cytological.
Course Content Definition and history of genetics and cytogenetics; Cell organelles, genetic importance of meiosis and mitosis; The effect of structures such as chromosome, DNA, RNA and Gene in genetics; Mendelian genetics and Deviations; Recombination and its Technology; Changes in chromosome structure and number and factors such as mutations that cause these changes; It focuses on topics such as quantitative and population genetics.

1Learns basic concepts of Genetics;
2Knows genetic material and its function in heredity.;
3Understands relationship between heredity model of different traits and breeding programmes.;
4Learns sources and mechanisms of genetic diversity.;
5Comprehends importance and role of genetics in Agricultural sciences.;
6Learns basic essential knowledge for genetic engineering and biotechnology.;
7To explain an organism's cell structure, the morphological structures and functions of chromosomes;
8To explain the shape of the structure and function of genes and DNA;
9To explain and understand the importance of mitosis and meiosis in living creatures;
10To explain the variation in cultivated plants, and to take advantage of this variation in engineering applications ;
11To explain the concept of ploidy and to take advantage of it in plant breeding;
12Discuss some basic applications of gene technology;
13To explain the origin of some cultivated plants;
