Course Objective In this course, it is aimed to give the students the definitions of ecosystem, flora, vegetation, community, biodiversity, the reasons for the richness and diversity of the flora of Turkey, the formation of flora and vegetation, the origin of the flora of Turkey, the effects of climate changes seen in geological periods on the formation of today's flora of Turkey, the general characteristics of the flora of Turkey according to plant groups and the number of taxa, endemism and endemics of our country and the general characteristics of cosmopolitan plants.
Course Content Ecosystem, community and population concepts, Flora and vegetation concepts, Definitions of biodiversity (genetic and hereditary diversity, species diversity, ecosystem diversity, habitat diversity, community diversity) and the importance of biodiversity An overview of biodiversity in Turkey, the reasons for the richness and diversity of the flora of Turkey, the history of botanical research in Turkey, the reasons for the richness of the flora of Turkey, general climate types in Turkey, Turkey's phytogeographic regions and their characteristics Brief information about the geography of our country (landforms, precipitation regimes, topography, Mediterranean bioclimatic layers) Flora and vegetation formation (migration, germination, ecesis, competition, climax, succession concepts), Climate changes in geological periods and their effects on our country, Effects of biotic effects (grazing, cutting, burning) on flora and vegetation formation Paleogeography and continental drift theory, The origin of the flora of Turkey

1To be able to understand the concepts of ecosystem, community, population, flora and vegetation
2To be able to relate the general climatic characteristics of phytogeographic regions in Turkey and plant biodiversity in these regions
3To be able to transfer the effects of climate changes in geological periods on the formation of the flora of modern Turkey and the origin of the flora of Turkey
4To be able to taxonomically evaluate the plant diversity in the flora of our country
